Done! – ODU trainees successfully complete their apprenticeship

Mühldorf am Inn,

Yet another highly successful group of trainees: the training class of 2018. Seventeen young people successfully completed their apprenticeships, and this was cause for great celebration among the future ODU specialists, their instructors and the management team: “These apprenticeships play a special role at ODU.

We work hard on these programs and our efforts are well worth it, both for the company and the young people themselves,” reports Managing Director and Head of Production Robert Klemisch with enthusiasm. All graduates will now be hired as specialists at ODU.

A wide-ranging training program as the foundation for growing young ODU talent

With ODU’s focus on instilling in its trainees an awareness of top quality and a willingness to innovate, the company’s apprenticeships for young talent are a core focus at ODU, as they enable the company to be well prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. The training quota consistently lies at above ten percent with a staff headcount that, at ODU’s headquarters in Mühldorf, has now exceeded 1,000. ODU currently has 110 young apprentices. The company is training up future specialists in 12 different vocations: cutting machine operator, toolmaker, industrial mechanic, metal technology specialist, process mechanic, surface coater, mechatronics technician, warehouse logistics specialist, warehouse clerk, technical product designer, industrial clerk and wholesale-and-export clerk. Both young men and women are equally suited to all these vocations. Training manager Anna Edmaier explains: “We’re looking for committed students with an interest in technology who would like to join ODU’s successful team. An apprenticeship with ODU will give them a valuable and stable foundation for their future.”

During the upcoming education fair on April 20 and 21, on Girls’ Day/Boys’ Day on April 26, and on Vocational Training Day on June 30, 2018, there will be plenty of opportunities to find out all about ODU’s various traineeships. More information is available at www.odu100.de

The special role apprenticeships play at ODU becomes particularly evident in several unusual features: For instance, for several decades now, these young people have been given the opportunity to develop the creative side of their personality through special music and art lessons, thereby learning to see things from different perspectives. This promotes personal initiative, inventiveness and an innovative spirit. Team spirit – even with ODU’s foreign subsidiaries – and personal contacts among the young talent are bolstered through the company soccer teams, for example, and the educational trip that is organized by the trainees themselves every other year.

The high standard of the German training system now benefits subsidiaries abroad as well: At ODU’s sites in Sibiu (Romania) and Shanghai (China) the company is currently introducing the dual training course for toolmakers, process mechanics for plastics technology and mechatronics engineers. In this way, the Mühldorf-based family business is consolidating its globally oriented quality management. Additional building blocks in this context include the promotion of continuous training and an international exchange of experience.

It is particularly remarkable that eight employees have undergone a second apprenticeship as machine and equipment operator and warehouse clerk. Shop chairman Andreas Hansmeier says: “I have so much respect for this achievement. Our company stands to benefit a great deal from this amazing effort on the part of our employees.”
